What makes this gym different
We're a USA Amateur Boxing gym built for everyday people, not just fighters. Here's what that actually means in practice.
A real curriculum, not a workout class
Students progress through hand wrap colours; white, yellow, blue, red, then black, as their technique develops. You always know what you are working toward and what you have earned. This is the Stick and Move Technique
Ohana
Walk in once and you are part of the family. It is on the wall, it is in the gym rules, and it is the thing members mention most in their reviews. Egos stay at the door, experienced boxers here go out of their way to help beginners.

Coach Ron's boxing is incredible. Coach Ron and all of his staff are wonderful people. They have created a very welcoming family atmosphere where you feel comfortable coming in for the first time and every time after that. His program motivates and teaches effectively, the "right" way. My son has thrived here and he looks forward to every single session. He never wants to miss class and he is engaged like never before. Coach Ron's boxing has provided so much for him and i'm so grateful. We're lucky to have them in Kitsap.
I wish I could rate Coach Ron's Boxing higher than 5 stars! Coach Ron and his entire staff are absolute gems. They worked with my son with incredible patience, offering the perfect balance of kindness and firm, constructive discipline when needed. They pushed him to challenge himself—never in a mean or overbearing way, but to help him realize his own strength and potential when he doubted himself. Before coming here, my son really struggled with confidence. Coach Ron and his team completely changed that, and seeing his confidence soar has meant the world to me.
Coach Ron's boxing is an amazing place to train! A very safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for anyone. As a veteran, the gym vibe reminds me of the camaraderie from serving. 10/10 gym. The experienced individuals go out of their way to help the new individuals progress. They don't forget where they come from and it shows! Coaches are awesome. Coach Ron and every member takes the Ohana meaning seriously. Very positive environment!
Coach Ron's Boxing Gym is the real deal if you're looking for actual coaching and true skill development, not just a cardio workout. The focus on fundamentals, technique, conditioning, and ring IQ sets it apart, and the multiple coaches all bring years of experience and hands-on instruction that helps you grow at every level. They take the time to correct details, build your confidence, and push you to improve every session.
I have only been at Coach Rons for a few weeks, but I can genuinely say this is the only boxing gym you need. He puts the meaning in Ohana (family), and you can feel it in every training session. Any level is welcome, whether you're just starting out or have some experience, Coach Ron is able to work with you and sharpen your skills. I urge anyone looking to get into the beautiful art of boxing to choose this gym.
Can't say enough good things about Coach Ron and his entire staff! As soon as you walk in, you are immediately treated like family and everyone there is so invested in your success and you meeting your goals whether that be fitness or actually furthering your potential as a boxer. The classes have enough structure that you're always learning but still give you the opportunity to focus on what skills you're trying to build. The one on one attention that you get is unparalleled from any other gym!
Meet the man behind the name
Ron Richardson put on his first pair of gloves at six years old in Honolulu. He boxed through the Police Athletic League to age fifteen without a loss, finished his amateur career 20–3 with six championship titles, and retired from the professional ranks at 7–1.
He started teaching the art of boxing in 1992 and opened his own gym in Hawaii not long after. He moved to Washington in 2015, coached across Kitsap for nearly a decade, and opened Coach Ron's Boxing in Bremerton in 2024. With 30+ years of teaching experience!
Head Coach Justin Ah Chan
Justin Ah Chan came up through Coach Ron's program and now is our Head Coach for it. He's currently an undefeated USA Boxing amateur who still competes actively.
Justin offers private sessions - technique and fundamentals, footwork, defense and countering, conditioning, and ring strategy, built around whatever you're working on. All levels welcome, no experience requrired.
Never boxed before? Here's exactly what happens.
The hardest part is walking through the door, so we'll tell you everything before you do. No surprises and no initiation.
What to bring: workout clothes and clean indoor shoes — street shoes aren't allowed on the training mat. We provide loaner hand wraps for your trial, and we have gloves and focus mitts available at the gym. You don't need to buy anything to start.
- Check in at the front desk. Tell us you're new and we'll get you set up and introduced.
- Stretch and get loose. Students take time on the floor before training starts.
- Warm up. Various floor exercises - to stengthen and condition your core.
- Footwork drills. Balance, positioning and developing footwork cordination while moving in various direction. Moving forward, back and side to side, and semi circle movements, while staying in a proper stance.
- Line drills and punch counts. Individual punches and combinations, building technique and rhythm.
- Round work. Various stations — heavy bag, speed bag, battle rope, slip bag, mitt work, jump rope, to name a few. What's on varies by session.
- Circle up. We finish our training session as a team, Coach gives feedback and announcements, and show respect to our teammates.
Your first training session is free.
Walk in once and you're Ohana. No experience needed and no gear to buy.
